Users are running into a prompt for login on twitter.com. This is because of a misconfiguration error and we’re working to fix it right now. Update: The fix for this has been pushed - you may see some residual prompts for login as the fix reaches all servers.

Bad escaping, character counts
We introduced a bug whereby quotation marks and other forms of punctuation are incorrectly escaped in Twitter updates. This means that instead of & you’ll see stuff like &  Also updates will appear over the limit despite actually being below it.  We’re working on it! Update: This has been fixed.

Update on missing tweets, other issues
Many people are still missing updates from those they are following. We’re working to make sure you get all the content you should be.  Also, some folks have been seeing another user’s profile when trying to view their own. Some users are experiencing difficulties connecting to search.twitter.com  We are investigating these network issues. Update: This has been resolved

Errors this morning
The site has been slow and many users have been getting errors. We are working through the issues now and will be deploying fixes as quickly as we can. Update (4p): We’re still working through these issues. As we deploy potential fixes for the underlying problems, some additional instability may be introduced. A number of whale pages are being thrown right now. We are working on it.

Profile Designer Bug: Fixed!
During tonight’s update users may have encountered a strange bug where their background image dissapeared. This has been fixed. If you are still experiencing the problem send an update to @twitter with the words “no background image” in the tweet and we’ll fix it for you.

A few whales
Users are noticing a few over-capacity messages (whale image) while clicking around the web site.  We’re in the middle of a large optimization which has uncovered some bugs.  We’re working to address them now and thank you for your patience. Update: We’re still seeing higher latency on the site and are working to reduce the slowness.

Search delay
We are recovering from a machine problem with search.twitter.com. Some results will be out-of-date as we work to restore full service. Update: full service restored.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

AT&T SMS delays
AT&T customers are noticing delays in both sending and receiving Twitters to 40404.  We’re working with our aggregator to resolve the issue.

Updates no longer delayed
Updates have been delivered normally since we resolved the problem yesterday morning. We have also re-enabled user deletion and restoration. Also, update search is no longer behind. We are looking into a problem that US Cellular customers are having in receiving updates from Twitter. We’ve found that the problem is happening upstream from us we are working with our partners to resolve it.

Update delay
You may not being seeing the freshest updates in your timeline. Updates from the last 30 minutes or so are not being delivered in a timely fashion. This has happened because of problem with the user deletion and restoration tools.  We are working to recover now.
